Venice and Varanasi, pictures by Anders Petersen and Marc De Tollenaere
Some years ago my friend and great photographer Anders Petersen sent me one of his books as a gift. It was about Venice and inside you can find this picture. I know the place where it was taken, and I am surprised that Anders found such an hidden place, very far from the usual paths.
What I like the most in this Ander’s Petersen picture is the innatural position of the child.
Therefore, when by chance I found the following picture I took in Varanasi, I immediately flagged it as interesting and I printed it. There is a strong similarity between the two photos, don't you think?
I learned something from this experience: first of all that I’d better to look more inside my archive, and also that there is always something that a great master of photography (as Anders Petersen is) can teach us.
If you have never had a look at his first book “Café Lehmitz”, please do that, it’s a masterpiece.
